Security Flaws in Škoda and Volkswagen Cars Could Allow Remote Tracking and Unauthorized Access

Security researchers have discovered vulnerabilities in Škoda and Volkswagen vehicles that could allow attackers to obtain real-time GPS coordinates, record conversations via the vehicle’s microphone, access the vehicle owners phone contacts, and more. All the attacker needs are to be within 10 meters of the vehicle and obtain a Bluetooth connection. Volkswagen has since patched the vulnerabilities after they were reported through the company’s cybersecurity disclosure program.
