Amazon Confirms Employee Data Breach Following Third-Party Vendor Hack
by Justin Erickson
Amazon has confirmed that a data breach has exposed sensitive employee information due to a cyberattack on a third-party vendor using the MOVEit file transfer service. The breach compromised 2.8 million lines of data, including employee emails and phone numbers. Hackers exploited a vulnerability in MOVEit, allowing unauthorized access to Amazon’s employee records managed by the vendor. Other companies were affected as well – like MetLife, Delta Airlines, and U.S. Bank. Amazon urges impacted employees to remain vigilant, and security teams are assessing the incident to enhance data protection against similar third-party risks.
