Decryption and Deprecation

Key Group Ransomware Decryption Available

by Artie Kaye

EclecticIQ has released information regarding Key Group ransomware, as well as the ability to decrypt affected files.  It was discovered that the encryption methods used were utilizing the same encryption key in most instances.  EclecticIQ offers information on their website about the decrypting process, but acknowledges that it may not function on all files depending on which version of encryption was used.

Backing up files before attempting to restore them can protect the data from being lost.  Keeping regular backups of files can also mitigate damage due to an attack like this, especially those kept off-site.  Contact your support team if dealing with ransomware, as many tools are made available to recover files.
