Multiple Vulnerabilities in Akuvox Intercom

by Artie Kaye

Researchers from Claroty have found numerous flaws in the E11 Akuvox product.  The security holes could allow an attacker could take complete control of the device, turn it into a listening device, access images and video to monitor the space it is installed in, and it could be leveraged to move horizontally through the network.  The researchers made their findings public after receiving no response from the company regarding the flaws.  The recommended mitigation is to restrict the device’s network access, keeping it disconnected from anything important.

Akuvox responded to a journalist inquiry and have stated a patch to the flaws will be made available by March 20, 2023.
